BATU PAHAT - Three men have been charged with plotting terror attacks on a temple and several nightclubs in Johor.

Md Saifuddin Muji, 28, and Jasanizam Rosni, 33, were accused of committing the offence at a house in Taman Waja, Parit Raja, between June 26 and July 2.

They were charged before magistrate Mohd Zulhilmi Ibrahim.

If found guilty, they could face up to seven years in jail, a fine or both.

In the same court, Mohd Sanusi Satar, 31, was charged with not telling the police about the plot, which is an offence under the Penal Code.

He is alleged to have committed the offence at No 5, Jalan Manis 1/3, Taman Manis in Parit Raja, between July 1 and Aug 8.

Mohd Sanusi faces a penalty similar to that of the other accused if convicted.

Md Saifuddin was charged separately with two other offences - for having a hand grenade and a flag related to the Islamic State terror group at No 108, Kampung Parit Gantung in Seri Merlong, Rengit, on Aug 11.

He pleaded guilty to the hand grenade offence, which carries a maximum jail term of 14 years and at least six strokes of the rotan.

No plea was recorded for the flag possession charge, or from the other accused.

Mohd Zulhilmi set Sept 28 for mention of the cases.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Fadzlan Mohd Noor prosecuted while the accused were not represented.
